Insight: "The ability to look inward, understand what is happening, and how it affects one's interaction with the world."
– Wolfgang Kohler (psychologist)
Many people find it difficult to look at themselves and reflect on their lives, their paths, and their relationships with others. It is easier, and less frightening, to focus on what lies beyond their image: the lives of others. This becomes the central topic of conversation with friends and family, pushing self-reflection into silence.
The mirror ball fragments the reflection of those who gaze into it, making it unsettling to decipher their own image. Their own Self. Yet, it prominently displays screens showing the view from the other side of the ball: the lives of others. The screens are small and of poor quality, much like the shallow understanding of other people’s lives.
