After the exclusive presentation of selected pieces at the Tribeca Film Festival Lisbon and at ModaLisboa (March 2025), SELF premieres its first exhibition in Portugal: an immersive multimedia experience inside a vintage 1980s TIR truck, touring several locations across Lisbon.
The exhibition reflects on image culture, fast consumption, and the construction of identity under the permanent gaze of others — a journey between Orwell, Freud, and pop culture. Featuring ten physical works, it combines vintage televisions, LED panels, retro-futuristic structures, and real-time digital interventions, creating an atmosphere where visitors are invited to slow down, reflect, and question.
Among the highlights:
1984 — A powerful installation on constant surveillance, inspired by George Orwell’s dystopia, integrating webcams, doggycams, and phonecams, including access to the personal universes of actors Kelly Bailey, Lourenço Ortigão, and Ortigão’s son, Vicente.
Red Light District — Children are entering sexuality at increasingly younger ages, shaped by hyper-sexualized messages from all media. Without healthy references, they reproduce patterns that distort the relationship between body and affection. This piece, composed of 20 looping screens, exposes these media and the type of messages they convey.
